The light bulb is also colloquially called a light bulb. It is one of the general purpose lamps. Since the implementation of the EuP Directive into national law through the eco-design the light bulb is slowly being phased out due to its energy inefficiency.
The light bulb consists of a glass bulb and a screw base. Inside there is a filament that begins to glow when the lamp is switched on, thereby emitting light. As a temperature changer it only emits around 5% of its electrical output in light.
Lamps emit their light with colour temperature of around 2300 K to 2900 K. They emit a continuous spectrum of light. Their average lifespan is about 1000 hours.
