Bulk is a series of vases, dishes and tealight holders designed by the design duo Steffensen & Würtz, who have drawn inspiration from nature and its many forms and structures. The characteristic bubbles that form the base are reminiscent of a beautiful Scandinavian forest floor, while the matt surface completes the natural expression.

Caring for glassware is essential to maintain its sparkle, prevent damage, and extend its lifespan. Whether it's your everyday drinking glasses or cherished crystal stemware, proper care will keep them looking their best. Here are some tips on how to care for your glassware:
1. Washing Glassware
- By Hand: Always preferable, hand washing ensures gentle handling. Use warm, not hot, water with a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive sponges; instead, use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratches.
- Dishwasher: If you must use a dishwasher, position glasses securely to avoid collisions. Use a gentle cycle and ensure that the dishwasher salt and rinse aid compartments are adequately filled to prevent cloudiness. Choose a detergent that is glassware friendly.
2. Drying and Polishing
- Air Dry: Let glasses air dry on a clean dish rack to prevent water spots.
- Polishing: For a sparkling finish, polish glassware with a lint-free cloth. Hold the glass by the base to polish the bowl to avoid twisting, which can cause breakage.
3. Removing Stains
- Vinegar Soak: White vinegar can remove hard water stains. Soak the glass in a mixture of one part vinegar to three parts water, then rinse thoroughly.
- Baking Soda: For stubborn stains, make a paste with baking soda and water, apply gently with a soft cloth, then rinse.
4. Storing Glassware
- Proper Storage: Store glassware upright to avoid pressure on the rims. If space allows, avoid stacking glasses.
- Stemware: Hang stemware upside down on a rack if possible to prevent dust accumulation in the bowl and to avoid stress on the stems.
5. Handling and Usage
- Temperature Changes: Avoid subjecting glassware to sudden temperature changes, which can cause thermal shock and cracking. Allow glasses to come to room temperature before filling with very hot or very cold liquids.
- Pouring Practices: To avoid pressure and potential breaking, never overfill glasses, especially those with thin rims.
6. Special Care for Crystal
- Hand Wash: Crystal should always be hand washed as it is more delicate than regular glass.
- Lukewarm Water: Use lukewarm water to prevent temperature shock.
- Mild Detergent: Use a mild, non-abrasive detergent and rinse well to prevent residue.
- Soft Cloth: Dry with a soft cloth to maintain the shine and prevent water spots.
7. Inspection and Repair
- Regular Inspection: Regularly check your glassware for chips or cracks. Damaged pieces should be removed from use as they can be a safety hazard.
- Minor Repairs: Some minor surface marks can be gently buffed out with toothpaste or a specialized glass polishing compound, but this should be done with caution and only on less valuable pieces.
Conclusion
Taking care of your glassware requires a bit of effort, but the reward is beautifully clear, sparkling glasses ready for any occasion. By following these simple care and maintenance tips, you can enjoy your glassware for many years to come.
